Professional Standards Committee and Council

Professional Standards Committee

In pursuing this mission, the IP3 Board has established the IP3 Professional Standards Committee to function as a standards advisory body. The IP3 Professional Standards Committee is responsible for the provision of advice and guidance on all issues associated with IP3 professional standards requirements.

This responsibility includes specifically:

The provision to the IP3 Board of advice and recommendations related to:

  • the currency and relevancy of appropriate standards for certification levels within IP3, and other issues relating to capability classification and categorization;
  • the currency and relevancy of standards used within IP3 accreditation schemes;
  • the content of the IP3 Core Body of Knowledge (CBOK);
  • the objectives and outcomes for IP3 education programs related to professional standards.

Professional Standards Committee – Membership

The Professional Standards Committee is appointed by the IP3 Board and comprises of up to 7 members.

Professional Standards Council

To ensure that the Professional Standards Committee is fully engaged with the IP3 stakeholder community and that its advice is informed by the expertise within that community, the Board has also established the Professional Standards Council.

The Professional Standards Council provides a forum for liaison and cooperation between industry and IP3. Its role is focused on developing standards with respect to the professional knowledge, skills and professional attributes needed by the IT professional. It is intended as a catalyst to bring together the developed and developing nations (both IP3 Members and non IP3 Members) to assist in the development of the IT profession worldwide.

The primary role of the professional Standards Council is to support the Professional Standards Committee in its role of providing advice and guidance to the IP3 Board.

As part of this the Council:

  • provides input on all matters referred for opinion by the Professional Standards Committee
  • generates and encourages discussion and gathers input across the international community on issues of current interest or concern in the area of professional standards and makes proposals for action.
  • reviews IP3 Professional Standards policy statements and makes proposals for additions or amendments.

Professional Standards Council – Membership

The Professional Standards Council is chaired by the Chairperson of the Professional Standards Committee and membership comprises:

  • The members of the Professional Standards Committee
  • Two industry representatives from each of the regions within which IP3 is active
  • One academic representative from each of the above regions.
